On Sunday 25th January 2009, Sonkei Malta Yoshinkan Aikido took part in a martial arts demonstration held at Magazino, Valletta Waterfront, in aid of the Puttinu Cares Foundation.  The event 'Martial Arts vs Rock Bands' was organized by Shidoshi Alfred Galea of Bujinkan Malta Dojo.

The event started at 11am and ended at 11pm. During this time attendees were hosted by over 14 martial arts demonstrations and over 12 local rock bands.

The event collected the wonderful sum of EUR5,500 as a donation for the Puttinu Cares Foundation. Rock Bands were the most popular, collecting the largest donation for the marathon.

Sonkei Malta Yoshinkan Aikido performed a varied demonstration ranging from Kihon Dosa Rensoku and Sotai, White belt techniques, Yellow belt techniques, Jo, Bokuto and finally Jiyu Waza performed by Sensei William Ebejer.
